The township

Acton Vale, in the Acton RCM in the Montérégie region, has a population of about 7,600. Incorporated in 1861, it takes its name from Acton — a London suburb whose name means "oak town." Between 1860 and 1875, the Acton copper mine was one of the world's largest. The town's historic core still carries echoes of late 19th-century settlement.
